FAQ

Where did all the handmade plush go?
Quite a few things aligned when I made the decision to not only paint again, but to stop making plushes. It's been 3 solid years of sewing the same patterns over and over again and I needed a break. I felt a bit of painting would be refreshing and help stretch the ole' creative muscle. About a week later the economy took a swipe at my main mortgage paying business and I realized that I couldn't pretend that the plushes were making much money beyond paying for supplies and affording me a coffee now and then. I also realized I was happy painting and it would be a bit easier to sell 'copies' since an outside printer would make giclees. And they would be affordable for everyone and I wouldn't have to repaint something once it sold.
Will you ever sew plushes again and can I special order a plush even though you don't make them anymore?
I hope to make plushes again. I have a couple rooms filled with neatly stacked bolts of fabric and drawers of buttons so it's a waste not to think I'll get back to it. I will, however, be taking a hiatus since my time is being taken up by Cuddly's new ventures. I thought I might be able to make a plush now and then but with the holidays coming up, I realize that there will be too many people requesting plushes and I don't want to have to pick and choose who will get one and who won't. So, for now, no, I will not be able to make any special order plushes.
Do you charge tax?
Only New Jersey residents will be charged 7% sales tax, which will automatically be added at the time of check-out.
How long will it take to receive my order?
Unless I specify otherwise or send you an email, I will get it packed up and ready to ship within a day of your order. Then I will send them off to you via United States Postal Service Priority Mail. This usually means two to three business days for delivery. I cannot track the package this way and I do not insure them. If you would like them insured please include it in the notes section of the order form and I will bill you separately for the insurance on your particular package. I will send off an email when your order is actually shipped.
Do you ship outside the United States and how much will it cost?
Indeed I do! All shipments outside the US are sent via US Priority International Shipping. When you check out there will be a pull-down menu that will ask you to choose where you are shipping to and give you a price for that particular region. It’s not all inclusive, so if you don’t see your country on the menu, simply choose ‘Everywhere Else’ and a flat rate that will cover your shipping will be added. Again, I don’t insure anything so it will be up to you to ask me to insure your package.
Who makes this stuff?
That'd be me, Kristin Tercek. I started painting when I was 12 and it's been my therapy ever since. Instead of art school I went to NYU Film School having seen Star Wars (yes the original, original) and became enthralled with special effects. That lead me to animation, my husband, Ed Mironiuk, our ink and paint business (our mortgage paying business) and then plushes for a hobby. That led me back to painting which you see right here. Whew! Did that make any sense? If not, don't worry. It's just my kooky road to where I am right now. If you've been a fan, then I hope you stick with me. If you're new to all this, then welcome.
Are Cuddly Rigor Mortis handmade plushes safe for little kids and animals?
No. The Cuddly Rigor Mortis plushes for sale here are all handmade by me, Kristin Tercek. I’m more of an artist than a seamstress so these items are not meant for small children and animals. There are buttons and fragile stitching that are not safety rated. So a little kid or dog could easily pull off a button eye and swallow it or rip open a seam and ingest stuffing. So let’s keep everyone safe!
What are Cuddly Rigor Mortis handmade plushes made of?
All plushes are stuffed with 100% polyester fiberfill stuffing. I use all different types of materials, from cotton to pleather. I also use lots of buttons, some of which are vintage. Specific material information is on every plush’s ‘Buy’ page.
Can I return a handmade plush?
I’m sorry but I’m not going to be able to accept returns on the handmade plushes. There will be slight variations from the item you see online to the one I make for you but that’s the beauty of being handmade. If you are really unhappy or if something is horribly wrong please feel free to email me and we can discuss a solution. I want everyone to be happy with their purchase.
What's the difference between a Cuddly Rigor Mortis handmade plush and one I see in the stores?
The plushes here are made by me. I buy all the fabrics and cut and sew them together myself. I sew an embroidered tag onto the back of my plushes that says it is handcrafted by me, Kristin Tercek. I also include a birth certificate with my plushes that is filled out for that specific plush. It will have a number, birth date and birth place that is handwritten for that plush. The CRM plushes in the stores are our designs that are licensed and manufactured by a different company.
